CHAPTER 6. EGYPT CONT.

We, and Maurine and Bob, don’t depart the next day with the rest, but transfer to the Rameses Hilton for three more nights to rest and to see more of the Cairo Museum. The Hilton is real luxury, we have a large room with an alcove at one end, and a balcony overlooking the pool and the Nile.

We rest most of the first day at the Rameses Hilton. A walk on the sidewalk along the Nile is pleasant, crossing the Nile on the second bridge gives a nice view back towards the hotel. We have a good dinner at the hotel grill, and before going up to bed walk around the lobby some , seeing many people in Arab attire, as well as in western dress.

Our second day’s outing is to the Coptic Museum, which Betty missed due to illness when the group saw it. That, and more rest filled the day. The next day we walk to the Cairo Museum, pay the camera fee, and spend two hours mostly photographing the Tut exhibit. We had seen the Tut exhibit when it was in San Fran-cisco, but it was nothing compared to that in Cairo.

We finally fly home from Cairo after an enjoyable and interesting 25 day tour. The flight to New York is 11 long hours; rented earphones for movie and music shortens the time somewhat. A plane change in New York and a 5 hour flight to San Francisco takes more time. Then a drive home to Sacramento all adds up to a long 28 hour day for us. The whole trip is a once in a lifetime experience and worth breaking our rule against taking tours. How else could we take a photograph like you can see on the last page?
