CHAPTER 6. EGYPT CONT.

At the Aswan market, we walk a lot, but see nothing to purchase. A horse carriage ride takes us to the Nile Dream and lunch. The ship departs Aswan about 1 pm; we take a nap and awaken just in time to see we are approaching Kom Ombu and it’s temple on the Nile bank. There are huge sandstone columns and lintels, & very interesting bas relief carvings. Even in isolated areas like this, there are temporary shops set up to sell to the tourists. Back to the ship and on to Edfu where we moor just after dinner.

In the morning there is a horse carriage ride thru a fairly large town to the Edfu complex. It is the most complete temple we have seen, with a roof, and a beautiful statue of Horus. On to Esna for a short visit, the temple here is way below the level of the city, and not in very good condition.
