CHAPTER 12. SWITZERLAND CONT.

On to Lucerne and check into the Park Hotel before walking downtown. We cross the Reuse River via the covered pedestrian bridge and note that the water is flowing very fast from the lake into the river. Downtown Lucerne is very pretty and clean; there are young people giving musical performances and dancing in the streets to enliven things as we walk around sight seeing.

The next morning in Lucerne it is hot as we walk to the boat area at the lake near the railroad station where police are rescuing chairs that have been thrown in the water. Later we watch a group in wet suits jump from a pedestrian bridge and swim down the river.

We walk back to the Park Hotel and check out, then drive around the north edge of Lake Lucerne to Brunner and stop at a lake shore restaurant for a good fish lunch. The lake is very scenic, with many boats; there also are boats tied to the restaurant dock.

We drive north to Lake Zurich and then east by the Walensee, seeing hang gliders and small radio controlled gliders. We go on to Liechtenstein and a hotel at Vaduz where street noise from cars and motorcycles is excessive, but fails to keep us from sleeping. The next day we will drive back into Switzerland and into Germany at Lindau (#13) thus ending our short, but very scenic visit to Switzerland.
